Community Micro-Grants
The North & Gray Community Innovation Micro-Grant provides small-scale funding and strategic support to grassroots initiatives, nonprofits, and community-led projects working to strengthen communities across Toronto.
Through this initiative, North & Gray supports organizations that are building meaningful local impact and developing innovative solutions to community challenges.
Selected initiatives may receive micro-grants of up to $1,000, along with a short strategic consulting sprint designed to help projects strengthen their programs, expand visibility, and explore new opportunities for funding and partnerships.
What does the Micro Grant Support?The North & Gray Community Innovation Micro-Grant supports projects that strengthen communities through creativity, collaboration, and local leadership.
Examples of projects and activities include:
• Community programs that support youth, families, or seniors
• Skill-building workshops (digital literacy, leadership, mentorship)
• Community events that bring residents together
• Programs focused on food security, wellness, or cultural connection
• New or expanded community initiatives
• Improvements to existing programs that help reach new audiences or remove barriers to participation
Priority is given to initiatives that demonstrate clear community benefit and potential for long-term sustainability.
What do Recipients Receive?Selected recipients receive:
• Micro-grant funding of up to $1,000
• A short North & Gray Strategic Impact Sprint, which may include guidance on:
Funding and grant opportunities
Partnership development
Program growth and sustainability
Marketing, communications, and visibility
This combination of funding + strategic support is designed to help community initiatives strengthen their work and expand their impact.
Who can apply?The program is open to:
• Grassroots community initiatives
• Registered nonprofits or charities
• Community organizations and collectives
• Small social enterprises with a community impact focus
Projects should demonstrate a clear benefit to local communities and the ability to implement the project within the proposed timeframe.
How to apply?Applications for the North & Gray Community Innovation Micro-Grant will open in May 2026.
Community organizations and grassroots initiatives will be invited to submit a brief application outlining their project, the community impact they aim to create, and how micro-grant support would help advance their work.
Full application guidelines and timelines will be released ahead of the opening date.
